Double brokering and freight fraud in 2026: $75,000 broker bond rule, Motus registration, authority sales banned

Since January 16, 2026 FMCSA can suspend a broker's authority when its bond or trust falls below $75,000 and is not replenished within seven days of notice. In May 2026 FMCSA replaced its legacy registration system with Motus, which adds identity and business verification.

What changed

What PingPoint does and doesn't do here

Does: the driver whose phone number you entered shares location from the PingPoint Driver app, so you see whether that driver is at your pickup and on your route. If nobody opens the link, the load shows it and a NO_SIGNAL alert is e-mailed.

Doesn't: check MC/DOT authority, insurance or bonds, or detect re-brokering by itself. Use a carrier-vetting service for that.

How PingPoint connects. You sign up with email, Google or GitHub and start with a $10 credit. The driver gets a text message with a link and installs the free PingPoint Driver app (iPhone, Android) — no driver account. The carrier and the dispatcher don't need to set anything up.
